Exclusive Interview – Chris Forsberg
AJC: When did you start drifting?
CF: I first started drifting around 1999-2000.
Borrowed a friend’s car and slid around a parking lot for a day, and then I got
my RX7 shortly after that.
AJC: How
did you get up to the professional level?
CF: After drifting for about 3 years, we saw the
sport growing very fast, especially in southern California. I decided to move
out to California and pursue a professional drifting career. Shortly after
that, Formula Drift announced their series and I got an offer from Motorex to
drive my car for them in the series.
AJC: What
is the most difficult thing about drifting professionally?
CF: I would say being able to keep a competitive
car in operation for the entire year. There are so many awesome cars out there,
and having something that can stay competitive is the biggest expense in
professional drifting.
AJC: What
is it like to drive in Formula D?
CF: It is an awesome feeling to know that I can
compete with the best drifters in the world. I am very grateful to have the
sponsors that I have, and for the support that they give me.
AJC: Who
are your favorite tandem partners?
CF: Duhhh, any of my
boys in Drift Alliance! They all have a very similar driving style to me so it
always makes for a good battle.
AJC: If
you could offer one piece of advice to aspiring drifters, what would it be?
CF: Practice, practice, practice! Go to proper
drifting events and keep it off the streets!
